Conservation

Woodbine Park Prairie Estates is a conservation community strategically located between Spitler Woods State Park and Fort Daniel Conservation Area. (see links below)

The principal emphasis of the Community is to provide for a way of life that supports land conservation and stewardship of nature.

The Declaration legally safeguards approximately 46 acres of wooded area for the use and enjoyment of the Association members and their guests. The land features trails, ponds, stocked lakes, streams and an abundance of wildlife. A lifestyle that can include many outdoor activities: a nature walk, fishing, birdwatching to name a few possibilities. Hunting on the grounds of the HOA is strictly prohibited.

As a conservation community it is critical that these areas are preserved, and environmentally sensitive areas are protected.

To enhance the conservation aspect of the community Association members are encouraged to plant native trees, bushes and flowers on their property. http://illinoisprairie.wildones.org/

In 2024, the Macon County Conservation District acquired and renamed land adjacent to the Fort Daniel Conservation Area. The newly named Woodbine Farm will host events of interest to the Woodbine Park Estates residents and members of the greater community. Wine in the Wild kicked off the events in June 2025.

In 2025, the Macon County Board approved the re-plat of Woodbine Park Prairie Estates. Included is a 4-acre recreational bikeway that will connect the Fort Daniels Conservation Area to Lake Decatur. This is the first step for creation of the Big Creek Riparian Greenway Corridor – Fort Daniel Conservation Area expansion. Read more here.
